Miss Rodeo Drayton Valley 2024

Tawnie Thompson

Tawnie is a fourth generation cowgirl, local to the Drayton Valley area. Having been raised on the back of a horse, she has thrived in her queen lifestyle for the last several years.

As her year as Miss Rodeo Drayton Valley comes to an end, she is thankful for every opportunity she has been given. Each friend she made, every arena she saw, and every horse she jumped on made her into the cowgirl she has become. With one door closing, one door opens, and Tawnie has many openings for her this year. She will be graduating post secondary this June with her Social Work diploma, and will finish her education journey as a practicum student for the Town of Drayton Valley. Additionally, Tawnie will be continuing to flourish in the sport that raised her. As a rodeo announcer for the last three years, she is looking forward to spending the summer from the birds eye view of an arena.

After spending 365 days under the crown, Tawnie would like to thank the many people who have helped her along the way. She’d like to thank her family for always believing in her and supporting her crazy dreams, and the Calvert family for treating her like their own. Tawnie would also like to say a big thank you to the DVPR Committee for making her year as amazing as it has been. And, of course, the many sash sisters who travelled along side her all year long.

The smiles, laughs, and memories are immeasurable.
